Question Noise

Anybody else out there think the p500 is noisy in the cab? My wife and I wear ear plugs. Not a problem but wondering. New to this and great feedback and info from people that know their stuff!

IMO all these sxs are noisier with an un-insulated cab. I know a guy that traded his yamaha after he put a cab on it. It was really bad. Unless you really need a cab , they should be avoided, just my opinion, but to me the whole idea of an atv is being out in the open, otherwise just a buy small toyota tacoma and make a woods buggy out of it.

I just changed the oil and am shocked at how much quieter it got. I used Mobile 1 4t 10-40w but not sure that matters. You might have already done that. I also put some Dynamat on the upper heat plate above the muffler in the back and that rattle went away as well. I would agree it does seem like a loud little guy though.

I took a peice of rubber belting and cut it out to fit behind the seat, that got rid of ALOT of noise.

I get a rattle on the high RPM side of every gear. I couldn't take it anymore yesterday so I stuck a couple small sticks between the frame and the frame mounted heat shield above the muffler. Absolutely amazed at the difference. I thought I was hearing engine noise, turns out that most of what I was hearing was the rattle. It was a very low -"non-tinny" rattle. Now I just have to fix it for good.

I'm going to try the peice of rubber behind the seat trick. Thanks...

Do you prefer the brain damage or the hearing loss? I have the hearing loss, and some would say the brain damage but that's not from falling on my head.
