Dies and Backfires

My Pioneer miss out bad going up hill when you give it gas . Then it will die and backfire. After it dies you can smell gas real strong.I had It in the shop and they could not get it to do it. But they don't have a hill to check it on. So I need help.

Thanks

Garage
I would try the simple things first, spark plug and fuel filter. How steep of a hill? Does it do it consistent or just now and then?

Have you pulled the plugs to see if they were fouled?
