Default Honda Pioneer vs Kawasaki Teryx

it's an interesting comparison when you dig into the numbers. The Kawi has the Fox shocks and great warranty plus that strong V-Twin. The Pioneer has 4 seats, an automotive CVT, and capability..

Kawasaki Teryx:

Engine: 783cc Liquid-cooled, 90-degree, four-stroke V-twin, SOHC, four valves per cylinder

L:117.3 in
W: 61.6 in
H: 74.8 in
Clearance: 11 in

Towing: 1300 lbs
Cargo: 600 lbs

Honda Pioneer

Engine: 675cc liquid-cooled OHV single-cylinder four-stroke, Fuel Injected

L: 114.8 in
W: 60.0 in
H: 77.6 in
Clearance: 10.5 in

Towing: 1500 lbs
Cargo: 1000 lbs

Why not compare the M4 to the T4 and compare the M2 to the Teryx 2 seat? I think the 14 model Teryx looks kind of weird with the new roll cage and the storage compartments in front of the box. Power would be the biggest comparison though for a trail rider. For a work machine the cargo room and capacity would make the difference.

I like the four seat compatibility for the pioneer, just in case if we go out in to the woods with the kids or neighbors we have seat to use.

Indeed, even if you go hunting and need to seat up to 4 big people and some equipment it will be very useful

The Pioneer does not have a CVT.

The choice is easy:
Do you like flashy colors and lots of power sitting in your local dealers' shop area while spending extra money? Teryx.

Do you like tame but-dead reliable power, a brilliantly packaged 4 seater that fits into the space of every other MFG's 2 seater, and a bargain price? Pioneer.

ATV.com just did a review on both the T2 and T4. I'm a Honda guy all the way. If I strayed it would only be for power, Kawi doesn't offer enough.

Teryx 4 is a whole different game though, the thing that makes pioneer distinct is that Pioneer and Pioneer 4 are both the same dimensions.. the Teryx 4 suffers dearly for its 4 seat configuration...

Cargo Capacity and Box Dimensions
249 lbs., 47.6 W x 17.9 L x 8.7 in. H

Overall length 125.2 in.
Overall width 62.0 in.
Overall height 79.4 in.

length increases substantially as well as height by a small margin...

Then there is the price factor. Teryx4 MSRP is ~$15K while Teryx 2 retails ~$13k. Compare that with Pioneers $9,999 MSRP and Pioneer 4's $11,699 MSRP...

To me that would be a closer comparison though. A 4 seater to a 4 seater. Length, width, hauling capacity, power, price and everything else would be what made one different from the other.

Guess what I'm saying is if I was shopping for a 4 seat UTV I wouldn't be comparing a 2 seat UTV with the others since it lacks the seats.

I've always been partial to Honda and I like the seating for four. The towing and cargo load for the Pioneer does seem to be a decent amount better in this specific comparison.

every time I see some mention of the Teryx, there's not many people impressed with it, especially when comparing it to others like it, i think that already says a lot about the future of the teryx
