Mine was doing it prior to A-Arm Guards. Also I have always been going straight when the issue occurs

I have now hauled several loads of firewood and just trail ridding and have yet to have it happen again since I adjusted the a arm guards.

No brake issues here. No a arm guards either.

Had the brake issue again today. Mine doesn't go all the way to the floor as the title says. but it does travel a lot further without seeming to push any pressure to the calipers. Its making me think it is a master cylinder issue. Seems like a leak in the primary cylinder by the symptoms, but hard to explain why its so come and go. Prior to the incident, it was sitting out in around 0 degree temps.( I had driven it out earlier that day with no issues). I parking braked and went to eat lunch. about 30-40minutes later came out released the parking brake, drove down to pick up the mail ( no issues and I used the brakes). It wasn't until I was about 1/8 mile down my trail and I was coming up to a tight squeeze between some trees, that it did it. As I depressed my brakes to slow to fit. there was no resistence until about half way depressed, and then it had limited effect and I ended up bumping a tree edge with one of my tires.

I was going straight at the time and slowing from maybe 5-7mph. Then after that, the rest of the day, (4 more loads and another 3 miles on the machine and) nothing.

Just a major pain to diagnose since it happens so infrequently. Yes its still under warranty, but the closest dealer is 60miles one way and I currently dont have a trailer to haul it.

I haven't looked, but i would bet the PB is a mechanical worm gear type setup.

Anyone else having the brake to the floor issue like I am. I first thought t was a arm guards when turning. But it happens to me constantly while I use it. It's not everytime I brake but it's 1 out of 5 times I use the brake. It doesn't matter if I've turned. Parking brake used or not. It will do it just from shifting from forward to reverse. The other day I was driving over some dirt we had just moved. So I was back and forth back and forth. And it constantly did it. It also makes a strange noise in the rear when the brake does work right. I think it may be pads breaking in to rear rotor? Possibly?

Have you tried wiggling the rear brake system components to see if possibly some bolts didn't get tightened? If either the disk or caliper has loose bolts it could be causing problems and should be easy to spot.

do you still have the plastic oem covers on the front calipers?

If you do, I suggest you remove them, and make sure you have clearance to the calipers when turning. It looks like the A arm guards aren't fitting every machine with the proper clearance. If that is hitting the caliper, or binding against that plastic guard, the plastic guard my be pushing on the brake line where it connects to the caliper. That can cause primary (front brake) fade. Which would put the main load to your rear brake. increasing your pedal travel and more noise from the rear.

If none of that is the cause, I have another issue with my brakes. I have diagnosed it down to what I believe to be a master cylinder problem. I contacted my dealer about it, their tech agreed with my assessment. Sounds like they will be coming to pick my unit up, or driving one of their guys out here to repair it on the spot.
