I've had the same problem recently. What happens is the baffle comes loose and gets pushed against the pipe of the spark arrestor, limiting flow. Under low load the air finds it's way out, but with increased load and exhaust pressure, there isn't enough air (or exhaust fumes) getting out and the engine boggs down.
same problem here. loosing power, getting noisy, stalling when letting off on the throttle. temp fix until i can get it in to the dealer, remove the end of the muffler, cut off the spark arrester, using a long screw driver put the baffle back in place, measure the distance to the end cap, cut a peice of 1 1/4' copper, drill it full of holes, install inlace of spark arrestor, works fine as a temp fix.
Emission warranty last longer than the year on these machines if any of you are out of warranty.
How long does it cover?

I have a new muffler on order .. I do have a rattle in my muffler ..When I took out the spark arrester , I could see the inside baffle moveing back and forth front to back. When running . I held it still with a screwdriver and the rattle stopped.. also the spart arrester screen was pushed towards the outward exaust pipe .. I could see where the inside baffle was hitting it .. if it hit it long enuff it could close off the pipe alltogather... Under warranty.. so no worries
Thanks for the vote of confidence Dick. I really appreciate it. I do try my best to help, and like Toodeep says, its the community that makes a site great. While the title of moderator is something to be respected, its every day owners and gear heads that make this thing work and continue to function. I hope that even though, I'm not "titled" people can look at the posts, the knowledge (or lack there of when I ask a question), the time, and effort I put in to try and attract new members and keep current members active. With that, the respect I try to show for everyone and their opinion on here, and see that I am trying to make this a place we can all feel welcome to shoot the proverbial Honda breeze, and exchange ideas, and make friends.
Thanks again for what you said.
You too, Toodeep, that means a lot.
