700-4 or 1000-5?

It's finally time for me to purchase my 1st side x side for me and the family, only problem is, I'm torn between the 700 & 1000 cc models. I like them both, and the low cost of the 700 is very appealing, but, the low gear talk/issues on the 700 are a little concerning, not a total show stopper though.
If any one out there can offer me any feedback one way or another from owning one or the other, I'd really appreciate it. I live in WNY state, and would mainly be trail riding in the woods, and some muddy and sometimes step terrain.
Thanks again for the comments.

The 700 would really become obsolete if it wasn't for its cheaper price. With that said, it boils down to how much are you willing to pay. The 1000 is with no question a much better machine in so many factors.

Edit: On a good note....your brand choice is correct.

Not sure if you saw the thread I started but basically the same question.

I'd say there's some good deals on the 700's coming (Black Friday maybe). I decided on the 1000 myself - it's not here yet but I'm feeling good about the decision.

I'm probably going to bite the bullet and go for the 1,000 since this will be a LONGGGG term investment, and there's no sense in botching it with the 700, and then regretting not going for the 1,000 after the fact. From what i'm reading on here, it sounds like lots of prior 700 owners are dumping their 700's for 1,000's like mad.

Go with your gut depending on where and how you ride. Ever wanna ride 50 inch trails or in the woods? I love the P500 as well as the 700-4 and I have many miles on it.

ghost posted a good link. I posted there too.

The good thing is you are biting the bullet and best wishes. I do see alot of 700 dumping and best wishes to them, some of them are losing alot. I spent just a bit more and kept the 700-4 and still have the best of both worlds. The 1000 will come a bit later.

Yeah, there is no way I'd give up my 50" trail rider. 2004 Honda Rubicon 500 ATV.

It's kind of interesting. There are many trails where I want to ride the 700-4 and can't because of width. I can do it on the P500 and can't wait to take it there.
