700-4D Storage Box
Thought I could use more storage room and wanted to install a 2nd battery in my 2018 - 700. Removed the driver's seat tray and side cover.
Made an aluminum box 9" x 9" x 16" with a 1" flange on the inboard side. Notched out a space for the factory Oil Tube mounts. Had to 45* the left front corner to match the curvature of the seat. Leaving enough room for the 2nd battery to sit tight against the front of the box. Lined all four sides and bottom of the battery with rubber belting for safety. Installed a 1" aluminum angle to secure the bottom of the battery from shifting. Used a nylon marine battery strap to secure the battery.
Bent an aluminum bracket in an "L" shape; 7" tall with a 2" base. Installed the box on the inboard side with 2 screws thru the flange and factory seat support. Set the "L" on top of the driver's side frame tubes and secured it with 2 "U" bolts. Leveled the box and put 2 bolts thru the "L" and box for support. Plan on lining the engine side of the box with heat resistant material.
Reattached the Oil Tube on the other side of the frame using a 1" square aluminum spacer.
Waiting on the electrical supplies to finish the battery install. Also working on a portable winch mount so I can winch off of the front or rear as needed.
