Took it to the trails camping

We took the 700-4 and the Rancher camping and riding for a couple days. Sorry I did not get better trail pics. I found that the Pioneer has the power and gearing for the tough climbing trails it was too big and the roof kept me from finishing the climbs. I had to back down most of them due to the trail being too tight for it to finish. A buddy brought his Prowler 700 2 seat which is faster in a drag race and top end. I felt the Pioneer was more capable in stock formations because it has better clearance and does not need to use a low range climbing. We found a cool teepee someone built at one of the campsites.

What's the issues with the roof? Was it catching on the trees or something. I am thinking about getting one but worried it will get in way or damaged from trees i ride in tight places and the trees hit roll bars very hard.

There are lots of trees and the roof and roll bar hit them as you turn and lean on the climbs. Some of these are so tough to navigate that you can easily roll an ATV. The pioneer climbs well but just could not clear the trees.

Thanks for sharing your pics and adventure. I like that old camper you have, I'm fond of the old ones. I have a 1963 Aristocrat 10 footer that I've stripped down and rebuilt. It's been a long project but the end is ever so near.

Looks like you had a good time, and so did the kids! Being able to install the kid's seat I think might have more to do with which car seat you buy instead of how you attach it to the Pioneer. Did you just buckle it in? Can you tell us what brand you have?

x2. I have been searching all over the place for an answer to this. The pioneer doesn't have the automotive type seat belt that locks. I guess ratchet straps would work too though.

Car seat is secured just like in the car with the seat belt going through the back of it and pulled down snug. The Helmet is a BRP (Can Am) helmet that is NOT DOT approved but it is the best thing for a little one that cannot support the weight of a regular helmet.

The wife took the camper off the inlaws hunt camp after it sat for years and rotted out and served as a mouse and chipmonk home. She informed me WE would be restoring it. I said no way in **** I was doing anything with it, so after she cleaned it all up I replaced more than 2/3 of the wood in the walls and floor and rebuilt most of the beds and odds and ends.
