June in Ouray, Colorado

Florida P500 planning to ride in Ouray area the second week in June. Worried it might be a little early in the season. Any riders from the area have any thoughts?
Will the P500 make it up to Imogene? Thanks.

I don't live out there, but we ride out in the mountains every summer and have quite a bit of mountain riding experience. A lot depends on the amount of snow fall on when the passes will open. As a rule of thumb most of the really high passes aren't open till at least July 4th. Some years earlier, some a little later.

Since your P500 is efi I don't think it should have a problem going up high, you may just have to ride a lot in a lower gear.

here's a website that shows when the passes are clear, its been a great reference for me since we live out in Missouri. Have fun and good luck!

Could be a little shakey that early... We're still getting snow in the mountains! We live in Montrose, not far away from Ouray! Your P500 should do fine for the climb.

Around here most of the high mountain trails don't open till after the 4th of July, I would think some of the lower trails would be open by then, but every year is different with the amount of snow and how warm the spring is. the weather hasn't been helping, expecting another 20+ inches of the white stuff this weekend.
Like Ransom said check with Bushducks. you use to be able to go back a few years and check when the trails opened in the past. Might help.
That is a very pretty area, have fun on your ride and take lots of pics!

We're currently in marysvale, utah riding the Paiute Trail System. We will probably stay another two weeks before we consider the Ouray area due to all the snow that seems to keep falling. Riding here has been beautiful but cold and wet. Still lots of snow blocking some of the trails. Have about 100 miles on the little Pioneer and have been very pleased. It is like a little billy goat on the trails. Have been riding with two 60' machines and we just pick our way through the rocks. Put it in second and it will climb almost anything. We've only been in low twice for some rocky steep sections. Have been as high as about 9,000 ft and it seems to have plenty of power to climb even with two people.
Went out by myself today and with one person it is quite fast. It will get to 40 very quickly but then the governor kicks in. Very pleased with it, although the RV park is full of 1,000 cc RZR'S. Our little 500 is the only Pioneer we have seen in the park. Someone told me the best way to keep it from getting stolen is to put a Polaris cover over it!!!!!!!!!!
The 1,000's sure look nice though.
500oneer and Silvertrd09 like this.

Most of the trails are still closed, Animas Forks is open to the town, Cinammon Pass is open. It would help open up some more trails if mother nature helped, its been a cool spring so far. Next week is forcast to be warmer, but I've heard that before!
