Hello everyone, I just purchased my 700-2 a week ago, and I'm debating building a mold for an aftermarket XLHDPE roof. I do have a new one from the local Honda dealer to put on mine, and to "borrow" some dimensions to make a bp, but am really debating building a mold for the roof and other body parts also. Any interest or suggestions out there?

My suggestion

If it would allow a 3/16" Lexan(homemade) windshield/rear window to mate up to it (ideally front and back.) I would be very interested. (Assuming it doesn't add too much extra height and keep most of the weather out of the seams) Who else?

Re: roof

The one I seen mounted on one today made it seem like it is a component for the hard and soft cabs, and fits very tight around the frame, I'd like to make one with a little more leeway for those of us who don't plan on enclosing ours, but keep the essential style of the OEM one.....

Db coop, you are correct on the lower profile, I put my OEM roof on, and that puppy is tall! Do you think they would sell if I built a mold that was lower profile, but essentially the same dimensions? And one more thing, anyone agree to the fact that I cannot stand the sides of the roof rubbing the cage? I need input folks, because I'm going to start building this sucker in about 4 days!

Re:roof

Coop, roof build is coming along well, waiting to hear back from the clamp supplier on pricing, and have the print nearly finished. I have taken into consideration the comments that people posted on this and another forum and have came up with the following synopsis:

The #1 issue people are having is installed height, I'm going to try to tuck it in so the total height of the machine with the roof installed is approx. 7/16" from the stock frame to reduce overall height so folks with a 7ft garage door can clear it.

#2 is the styling. I love the style of the Honda roof, so I want to emulate that look, but leave a little room at the rear crossbar to mount accessories, i.e. soundbars, and not sacrifice headroom for persons wearing helmets.

#3 why in the **** did Honda put a bolt on the outside of the upper cage frame? I'm going to enclose 2 screws to replace, to keep the roof closer to the frame to keep it sleek and not pop out in that area, like the OEM one now.

How do these changes sound? I'm going to have quite a bit invested in this, and I'm only doing it once, so speak now, or forever hold your peace folks!!!

I'm interested but need to make a decision pretty soon.
Given what you know now, what would your estimate be on timeframe and cost. Or if you don't know those now, when do you think you would know?
My honda was delayed so I have another week to decide if I wanna go topless for now. Thanks

Hard roof

I do understand that people can't wait, but it's coming, and I'm doing it in my extra time too, so please be patient! I will be debuting a new accessory that everyone will want next week, so stay tuned to this forum, one week from today at the most!
