Honda dropped the Electric Power Steering as a feature on the new Honda Pioneer. Some reviews I have read say that the EPS is not really missed that much, while others point to the lack of this feature as one of the only flaws of the Pioneer.

I suppose this partly depends on exactly what you are going to be using the Pioneer for, but do you miss the EPS? Or, are you worried about buying the Pioneer because of the lack of EPS?

Is this actually a problem???

Honda never offered EPS on the BigRed either. They don't steer bad until you have the front diff locked in and then you wish you had it. It still isn't that bad but EPS would make it that much better. I'm hoping the SuperATV kit for the BigRed will work on the Pioneer or they make it work.

I suppose it is a good way to keep the price down. Many people say that they don't miss the EPS, and if the Pioneer is not built to order than the extra cost of putting in EPS in all units would ratchet up the price by quite a bit. On that point I guess it was a smart business move for Honda.

not upset, but it would of been nice to offer it. The Yami Viking has EPS and non EPS models, its only a grand price difference anyways.

as toodeep said, its not really a problem until you lock the front diff, but its a workout so theres consolation ;)

Honda did a online study a few years ago getting public opinion on what they would like to see on the atv's. The simple things is what was wanted. Power steering has really gained popularity since then, about every machine sold here has power steering.

If SuperATV offers the kit like they do for the BigRed then there will be an aftermarket choice to have power steering or just stay without. It's $650 but if your doing a lot of slow, technical riding then it would be worth it. Once up to speed out on the trail I don't think many will know if it was there or not.

the pioneer is based off the honda atv flag ship the rincon (about the same platform ) and for 2014 it STILL isn't offered with the EPS ..........if honda offered a low gear and the power steering in the new pioneer , i think they would sell 2x as many by the end of the 2014 model year

Personally I don't think it would be needed and sure wouldn't pay extra for it. Mine steers with ease, but I do see the point of having youngsters driving it. But then again, Honda says "No one under 16 should drive this vehicle" ;) I have driven full time 4x4 ATV's and they could use this feature IMO.
