I would like to get a windshield for my p4. I have talked to a few people that say it will create a dead air space & I will get tons of dust in the seating area. Is this a problem? What is the fix (besides a full enclosure)?

Initially I started with the full hard roof and two piece windshield on my P4. I noticed right away that there was quite a bit of back draft air coming in the cab from behind the front seats bringing in lots of dust and snow into the cab. One thing nice I noticed about the two piece windshield is that if you adjust it open to allow a little air in up front, you can off set this back draft quite a bit. Problem with doing that in cold weather conditions however are obvious. If you are using your machine in a warm weather climate, you might be fine.

Because I live in Minnesota, and do quite a bit of plowing with my machine, I decided to add the hard mid panel around December and was extremly supprised what a differance it made. With the windshield now closed, even at moderate to high speeds, the air inside the cab became very stable and comfortable even with a modest cross wind. I found that there was little to no air movement inside which actually keeps the dust and snow out.

I primarily use my pioneer for utility and don't do as much trail riding as some others here from the site. I would think the results would be similar however.

Additionally, like allot of us here who are building our machines as we go, I decided to wait on doors and may or may not even need them down the road.

I have had the same experience as Minnesota. With the full hard coat windshield a lot of draft came at us from the back, in the wet a light wet mist, dust in dry and snow in the fluff.

I installed the bimini top with fabric mid panel because we hardly ever have anyone in the back. What a difference it made! now only time we get any draft is turning corners and it is coming in the side. I also like with the 4p top what ever we put in the back is protected from rain. I don't think I would use doors much either now.

I was also thinking of taking the front window nets and putting them across the back so they buckle in the middle, looking at them I don't think it would take much to make them work. This would be good for keeping things or even a dog in, he would still have small holes to stick his head out.

I have the same problem...tons of dust flies in while using the windshield. I bought the fabric rear panel but havent installed it yet. Im hoping this will fix that issue. Does anyone else here have the windshield with the rear panel on a P4 that can tell me if this also will fix this problem? Thanks

back draft in cab

I have the Honda soft rear window/panel on my P2, with the Honda two piece windshield and hard roof. Been riding all winter here in Ohio and not much snow and cold backdraft. You do get some side draft, but it made a huge difference after installing the rear panel. Will leave it on all the time, as it has a center opening you can un-zip for air flow when hot out. Highly recommend it as an option.

How cold

It has been several weeks of low in the 20's at days and anywhere from 10 to minus 17 (really) at nite, and snow here since early December. Just had another 6-8 inchesfall last weekend. Forecast shows we may see low 50's soon though.Today was low of around 20 and high in mid-40's. Feels like spring may finally be around the corner (at least hoping so...lol).

At least it's not as bad as Canada! I hear the folks up their have had it bad for a while even those in southern cities close to the american boarder.
