Hello
I am new here. 1st post. I plan on buying on this month. Going to need it for an 80 acre ranch I am planning on buying.
I have been reading for a month now and felt I needed to chime in on this thread.
A couple of great products for this are fluid film or LPS #3.
They are a little different.
I would say if you already have rust use the fluid film. This stuff sprays out thick and then stays thick. In other forums guys spray the whole bottom of there truck before winter to protect from road salt and rusting. Basically this stuff cuts off one thing rust needs to happen. Oxygen. But I could see on a UTV out in tall grass and bush the parts that get touched it might rub off. But hey for a few bucks a can just give those few spots a quick spray once a month or so?
The other product LPS #3 I have used a lot more than the fluid film. If your pioneer is brand new then use this stuff in the tubes and I bet if you coat it good you will never see rust on what you coat in the tube. This stuff works great on winch cables and chains and locks. For winch cable just stretch it out all the way and cup your gloved hand around the cable and just spray in your palm and walk the length of the cable. Then let sit for a few hours until waxy and they spool up. You will never have that dry brittle feel to your winch cable again. It sprays one kind of a thick liquid then after sitting for a few hours it gets waxyish. Ever had a lock on your pickup shell window or a pad lock rust up and stop working ? This stuff is the greatest. Any lock I have I spray this stuff in when brand new and NEVER have a problem with putting a key in and turning. They don't freeze or rust.
I am not sure how either of these would react to plastic parts and don't get on brakes or engine.
**** luck.
