Exhaust Silencer

36307 Views 21 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  BamaDave
Has anyone ever used an exhaust silencer to take some of the bite out the exhaust? If so, how well do they work? What is the best one for noise reduction? Durability? I checked with Silent Rider and they expect to have one ready in a couple of weeks. Haven't heard back from Kolphin yet. Any manufacturers out there for exhaust silencers? Thanks, Dale

Silencer

Here is a link to one a guy put on his ranger. Couldn't find any on a pioneer.
Silent Rider ATV UTV Exhaust Silencer Muffler for Polaris Ranger Review
Hope this helps.:)
Shouldn't be too much longer till someone shows up here with a silencer on their Pioneer.

What other manufactures would be making silencers?
I think as long as it fits in the exhaust tip it should work

So just measure the diameter of the tip.
Thanks for the replies. Kolpin says theirs will fit anything with a 1 1/4 exhaust. Seemed like a rather lame response from them. Just because it fits the tailpipe doesn't mean it fit the available space. In their web site it says it won't fit the Big Red. I guess it has a smaller tailpipe.
well what about something designed for big red? Pioneer shares the same power train no?
I don't want to be Debbie Downer here, but can you really silence a UTV since it has so many more surfaces to reflect the engine noise?
you wont silence the engine but you can silence the noise coming out the tail pipe and direct it away from the cab

Exactly, some people have been complaining about notice, can't make the engine quiet, only thing to do is exhaust.
Starting line products makes a quiet muffler for 800 rzr. I have been trying to get them to make one for my 570 rzr for 3 years with no luck.
Thanks, I'll check them out. Dale
The Pioneer is already quieter than a Ranger at idle and slow speeds.
Silent Rider

The silent rider exhaust kit is now out for the Honda Pioneer. They dont have pictures up but it does include a bolt on adapter. I just ordered mine, it will be here Friday.

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for the info. If you feel like snapping a few photos of the install and doing a little right write up. I'm sure plenty would like to see it
Silent Rider

Well it arrived Friday. I installed it Saturday. Install was so easy its pointless to post photos. You unscrew the muffler end pipe, screw on the adapter, slide the silent rider muffler then mount it to the frame using a provided bolt and some lock washers. Its a really nice piece. I it has a nice fit and finish. I could immediately notice the extreme reduction in exhaust noise. Once you get going you can notice it even more. The only noise I can hear while driving it now is the engine, which of course is louder than I prefer. I did notice a loss of power though. Its no too bad but noticeable. Top end suffers a bit as well. After riding it all day the Silent Rider is still doing well. The paint burned off of the elbow pipe but the muffler looks great. If someone can help me I will post photos. I have them in my garage photos in my profile now.
I noticed this weekend that Ebay has one for auction!
