I will start this by letting you know that although I have owned and ridden many ATV's, I have had very little experience with SXS, only driven two before for short distances. One was the Honda Big Red and the other was an Arctic Cat (not sure of the model).
I took my new Pioneer out for my first real ride today with my 6 year old grandson along as navigator (and Zombie killer) along a couple local trails. We where not out long due to high winds and -12 deg temperature and only traveled about 6 miles until he was cold enough to go back inside.
We broke through two frozen ponds and a mud hole before heading to a tight rocky trail I had cut out earlier on my wood lot for my ATV.
This SXS had no trouble at all when it had to break ice, climb a rocky hill and fit through the narrow trail. I was surprised at how nimble it was in 4WD and got around the tight areas surprisingly well.
Overall I am very impressed with my first ride, although short and will test it more thoroughly later on.
If I had to come up with an improvement for it, I would ask for tilt steering to help an guy like me who enjoys a buffet get in and out.
Oh yeah, he did kill all the Zombies we found !

I had the same impression of 4wd. Other than the front end whine, you don't really notice it is engaged down the trail.

Thanks to you and your grandson. Fewer zombies is a welcome contribution to the world
