Think about it. This is Hondas first REAL entry into the SxS market. Sure there was the Big Red, but lets be realistic, there was only one Big Red and it had 3 wheels. RZR, Maverick, yea Honda did that back in the 80's with a 400CC 2 stroke called the Pilot.

We can all over analysis the pros and cons of the Pioneer, which tires work best/which winch/how many accessories do you have?? Wait until we get into the "ticking noise from engine" Wont shift out of reverse". Right now 99% of postings are "who's pimped out their Pioneer the most". The best is yet to come. we have a rincon motor in a SxS! You dont think other forums have picked apart this setup thru and thru.

Honda will cross their T's and dot their I's before they get nuts. Thats why we have stow and go seating, automotive transmission etc etc.

While at the MotoGP races last Aug in Indainapolis sitting in a P4 I asked the Honda sales rep " Why not put the Superhawk motor (discontinued carb'ed 1000CC V-twin) in one of these, Ohh, he said, we have better technology then that!!

A SxS you can shift? Dual clutch technology? Ohh Honda will do it. BUT they will do it right.

Personally, my Pioneer wont be here til feb. I have no intentions on sticking a dollar into this machine. They dont come with bald tires. Bone Stock and ready to Rock!!

You meet the nicest people on a Honda!

I def think this is just the start for honda sxs's. You know...they are alot like apple(iphone) no one knows what they got up their sleeves, not even the dealers! I think they are testing the waters with the pioneer and seeing how much sales are soaring, i bet they gonna come with something big next!

I agree but at what price. I think we were all surprised at the price of the Pioneers and why many of us bought them. You guys thinking they will come out with a sport model or just stick with one line?
This is just a toy for me and accessorizing it is half the fun.

I would hope they would get into the sport sxs market. But idk, it took them alot longer to release the big red and pioneer than evey other manufacture out there. Plus with people acting the fool on them and having all these accidents, i can see why they would hold back.

Dick your absolutely right. I mean sure, if you are happy with a bone stock Pioneer. That's great too. However, a lot of us like to make stuff our own. For me personally the Pioneer offered a great opportunity. Something cheap that did what I needed and that gave me plenty of coin to modify. Think about the Honda brand that you love and bleed red for Butcher. Buying a Pioneer doesn't help the cause as much as buying their accessories. That's where they planned on making the cash off this first rig.

If you don't think it will be worth sinking a dime into, I guess that's your choice. However, I think the Pioneer is worth my time and money. Just like posting on this forum? Does that benefit me? Hahaha. No. Other than getting ideas and making friends. All I do on this forum is make views for a company to sell marketing. In return, myself and say another member who does awesome write ups about his time in the desert. Or another who is a retired racer up in Canada who has turned a wrench more times then I have taken a breath get to read about what the other is doing. If you think the Pioneer has been all plug an play, you need to look a little harder at the forum. There has been plenty of hiccups along the way. Our real world feedback to each other is what we want.

So I am glad that your going to get a Pioneer sometime soon, that's good for sales. If you want to come in and say its not worth putting a dime into. That's your position. The modders and mechanics on here will continue to do our thing.

Honda has said it is going to get into the other sectors of the market when they came out with the Pioneer. Youth, sport and crazy fast are the only ones left. I see the sport one coming next, I don't know if we will ever see the crazy fast (1,000cc+) from Honda. They are a very "sue" conscious company. One of the reasons (IMO) they took so long to come into the SXS market. Yamaha was in court for years.

For me I would have to set up the Pioneer a couple ways, summer and winter. Nice thing about the accessories is they can be swapped out fairly fast.

A blast from the past....

There is no "one size, fits all" SxS. I like the fact that you can set-up a Pioneer for work, or pleasure, or a combination of the two. You are right about Honda making money on the accessories, but they don't rob you blind like some manufactures. I still don't have mine yet but I'm sure getting anxious to get my hands on it...

I don't disagree . I think Polaris charges a lot more for accessories, but $260 for a winch mount, the same one warn will sell for around $50 when the contracts up.... I feel a little blinded by that one. You know what though, that's what led us to KFI and they have done a lot of us right. I refuse to even talk about the price Honda has on the plow mount....haha jeesh.

I feel myself wanting to chime in on this topic, my position is a combination of several of the views already expressed.

Honda goes where the volume is. Theres simply more volume in all use SxS' than jellied fire 1000CC rigs. Just need to take one look at their road cars and motorcycles to see that.

Welcome aboard Butcher, seems like you've met most of the inmates :D

I agree with you Moose, Honda is by no means losing any money on their accessories. I have a cab and hard doors ordered, but I'm going to try and get by without a windshield wiper. With the switch box and wiring it was over $400.00 As dry as it is around here, I'll dare Mother Nature to rain on me, while I'm out irrigating crops...lol

When I did a little looking around to decide on a sxs I went to yam-pol-kaw dealer. And this was after I decided on the Honda. I asked the guy about the belts in all the machines. I told him in the past I had dealt with older mules. I told him that I did not like the belt systems of all the other machines. And how much it costed to deal with them. And then I asked him when the other mfg's might use something better like the Pioneer. And guess what the fanboy said? He said "Oh it will not be long before Honda switches to the belt system" in a condescending tone. I thought to myself what a D-bag and walked out.

I mean THAT is the whole reason I am getting one because it does NOT have a stupid belt. It was for my work and I hated that stupid mule. It was always $200 this and $400 that. And it had problems 1-2 times a year. I have had my little Honda Recon for 11 years and have only put 1 battery in it. And it still starts right up and runs like the day it was new.

Yes I bleed red.

Honda always takes time engineering a product and then run with the design for a long time but will tweak it year after year based on customer feedback. They are famous for this in their power sports and I am sure you will see changes start appearing after it has been on the market for a couple years.
As owners of the first model year we are all guinea pigs and our suggestions and legitimate complaints will help develop this to be the best SXS on the market.

Just my 2 cents worth.
