I am in the market for a sxs i do mostly trail riding creek beds an some mud. I am a honda fan to the bone i have many friends with sxs from rzr, rhino, teryx. Is this a capable rig with some 27" tires on it i dont want some under powered rig but i love my rincon of course just like the rest of the crowd it could use a low range but very rare. If the pioneer is half as reliable as my rincon it should be great i am just looking for some real feed back from true use.

Comparing it too those other machines, it probably will have less power than some, less clearance, and probably less suspension travel.

However, I don't see it being any less reliable than your Rincon, and it has added utility over most of those other machines.

Now I have driven mine on trails and in light mud. I can tell you it's very nimble, and turning, at least with the stock tires, is tight and pretty effortless. I have loaded it to the 1000lb max and had plenty of power left to climb hills, logs, and rocks. It does get a little doughy with that load when turning, but that's just the stock 4 plies.

Overall it feels smooth and quick down a trail. In more technical areas it does lack low range, but the tranny responds well to crawling.

As long as you aren't looking for all out top speed, deepest mud, or biggest rock, this machine should be just fine, and that allows you to stay true to your love of Hondas.

Best of luck in your decision.

I know it is in a different class then the others only thing thatnis in same ball park is rhino a teryx i am not a fan of poo poos any how, never been a big fan of kawasaki motors seing how they have bushings not bearings an on there forums it seems like everything has a bore kit on it already which tells me it has been blown up already. I am not looking for a race machine i want something thag will tow my jon boat to the ponds put fire wood in the back up an load up kids an go trail riding. I just want more tire on it everything else left alone besides goofy looking roll cage which i can fix that. I just want some real world feed back on it.

On another note, does it stall if you are choppy on the throttle like most fi rincons do mine does it if it is under a tuff load an you let off the throttle woundering if they got that problem fixed.

dont think the pioneer is meant to go up against the RZR and the like

It's not priced that way either lol
I've had a RZR 900 give up her goat trying to climb a quarry wall. Sure it was almost vertical , but it bogged down like crazy.

Everything bogs. I can give you the formula to figure out when an engine will bog. Weight / horsepower. The larger the number spit back to you the better chance your machine will slow under top end load. We are discounting low end torque and gear changes, over sized or undersized tires, NOS, turbo charging and general scientific principal.

For example my ZX14R 550lbs + me 277 lbs / 212 = 3.9 on the bog scale

We we're looking for close to the same as you our dealer made a bold deal he told us to buy the pioneer. If we we're not happy with it in 30 days they would buy it back at full price. I'm gonna say it's not going back love the pioneer. If I we're u I would go with it. We got a 700-4 can't say anything bad about it

If I were getting started with a Honda today, I would look closely and compare the 1000 vs. 700. The units are priced differently, but I would make my selection after comparing the two units. The 700 is a fine unit, but you don't want to be one of those guys who is looking to trade with 50 miles because it is not preforming as expected. Keep in mind, when you get a 700 and add tires/wheels, you are starting to close the gap a bit on 700 vs. 1000 as well. A good dealer will let you drive them and see which is right for you. Best of luck :)

If you want to go over 45 mph then get the pioneer 1000-5 65 mph if you don't want to go over 45 get the pioneer 700-4 I had both. I put almost 1200 miles on the pioneer 700-4 with no problems then I sold it and got the pioneer 1000-5 non deluxe I have 200 miles on my pioneer 1000-5 with no problems.
