Hey, new here and looking for feedback on the pioneer's durability from some of you that may have put on some serious miles. In the fall of 2012 I bought an 800 ranger and have put on 1800 miles of work around the farm and recreationally. The rear wheel bearings are on their way out already, and it's not because I overload it or have it in water to an unreasonable degree. Generally it's a good machine but I'm a little leery of it now, having looked at some other forums. I'm a long time honda fan, but the Big Red was just too big for me, so I'm considering the pioneer now. Any info would be greatly appreciated before I decide to pull the trigger on another new machine!

I have only had my P2 long enough to get it out of the brake-in period but so far i love it. The gearing is great, it is very stable in all types of riding conditions, here in Florida. Mostly sand and mud. I have gone over it from front to back and it appeares to be built very well. The lack of a drive belt is a big bonus. If the size of the BR concerned you, the Pioneer is rather big. Watch out for the height if you get the roof. Would not fit in my garage if i would have bought Honda's hard top. Find a dealer or someone near you that has one and check it out.

Thanks for the input. I'm really hoping the pioneer will stand up over the long term the way the old quads do. Most of my riding is in the foothills of the northern Rockies, lots of slow going through old cat trails, lots of creek crossings and muskeg, which brings to mind, where is the air intake? How high off the ground is it?

Air intake is about level with bottom of backrest on passenger side. Pioneer has, i think, 10" or so of clearance....BUT, that i measured from a lower point in the center of the machine, an area that is about 1.5 feet wide. The rest is considerably higher, so it performs like a machine with greater clearance, IMO.

That's what I'm hoping to hear NVredneck. What do you do with it mostly?
Also I saw someone tried to pm me, but I'm a better hand in the bush than with this iPad and lost it,sorry.
