There is no place to tap ignition power for a winch. You have to go directly from the battery. Light or lite power draw can be done from cig lighter harness but not a winch.

the main cables go from the battery but if you are looking for 12volt keyed for the switch (trigger) then yes find one of the wires from the ignition that is only hot when the key is on

he can run the winch from the battery with a solenoid and make it keyed for the solenoid to be active

Yes solenoid is the best solution to your problem. A lot of winch kits come with them. I would not hook up a winch directly unless you are doing it on a need to use basis. You will best case blow a fuse worse case fry your cig lighter wires and who knows what else with a winch.

Solenoid makes a nice click sound when you turn key so you know it's getting power too.

Cheers,
Chief

go to a parts store preferable tractor and try to find a 300 amp or higher constant seleniod what youll do is hook it to the battery + then the winch to the other side then there will be 2 small hook ups this will be ground and pos. this will be the switching mechanism you ground the ground and put the positive switch wire to the key or cig lighter wire. the switch wire doesn't have to be big just a reg 18 gauge will do

I bought the Honda harness #08Z02-HL3-A00 (list price $5.95) and installed it in place of the original harness that supplies the power plug. It has 2 power wires and 1 ground to allow you to plug into. This is perfect for powering up a winch switch and a relay for accessories. Then I installed a 30 amp relay that powers up all of my accessories. This is a clean way to do it and does not require any cutting or splicing of factory wires.

White Park:

I live in Pennsylvania, around DuBois. Would you consider doing the auxillary wiring
for my rocker switch panel to my dome light, rear lights and winch. I work in an operating room all day, but I sure could use some help wiring up my Pioneer the way I want it to be and at the same time learning a little something about how to do it ? Let me know what you think !
