I'm new to this forum, but it have noticed some familiar screen names while lurking around. I currently have a 2012 Foreman that I will likely be selling in the spring and purchasing a side by side. I am looking to learn more about the pioneer as it is one of 3 contenders in my purchase decision. My in-laws have a big red and it is great around the farm, but I don't care much for it on the trail. Mainly because the open diff won't fall out of a tree in 2wd. Hoping the pioneer is a locked rear diff in 2wd.

Welcome to the forum a tack. There are getting to be more and more familiar names. I'm hoping by spring Honda will at least announce if they plan on other SxS or not. It will be interesting on which way they go if they do.

anyone know if in 2wd the diff is locked or not? i actually dont know.
If it's not, I won't buy one. The big red diff is great in the yard, but looses traction easily on uneven terrain, and if turning slight uphill corners. It's simply and awful setup for 2wd trail riding. In 4wd it's fine, but makes steering is too heavy for leisurely trail riding.

Yep, works the same as the Rincon rear end. They even copied the braking system, I liked the BR rear brakes better. Both work good but I like the idea of braking the wheels instead of the driveline.
