Hi, just want to introduce myself and say I just found your forum today. These vehicles (sxs, quads etc.) are new to me and I hadn't thought much about them until purchasing a cabin in the Sierra's where everyone either has a jeep or a polaris. I had time to kill last month so ended up at a big powersport dealer in the valley, I had stopped by to check on price of a new Yamaha FZ-09 which they didn't have but dealer talked me into a couple of sxs (side by side I presume?) test rides. I told him I needed a 4 seater but didn't like the long wheel bases on what he was showing me, so he took me in the back and showed me a brand new Honda Pioneer 700, ok, now that's looking better I thought, dealer suggested if the wife and I went to lunch he'd get the unit prepped and I could take it for a spin. So when we got back it was ready to go, quick check out and away we went through their large parking lot, each taking turns at the wheel.
First impression was that just off idle it shook a bit but I guess that's to be expected from a big single cylinder, don't know why Honda doesn't have a nice twin to put in there, cost I guess. I really liked the auto trans and was surprised by that, all in all a pretty nice vehicle with utility of a tilt bed and still with the 4 seats and short wheelbase. Dealer said they were selling as soon as he got them but I figured that's what he told everybody. I told him I'd think about it and now that I found this forum I see that these Honda's are in demand, who knew? Hope there is one when I decide to spend the bucks, dealer wanted 11,699.00 + tax+freight+setup which was around $13,700.00 if I remember right, anyway I'll search the forum and learn about these machines, thanks for being here...Mark

Thanks, I'll keep going through the posts and learn what I can but for now it would seem this Honda is the only one in the 4 seat category that has a short wheelbase and still has a decent bed when needed, now I'm just a little concerned with it's height for going in a standard tip up garage door...more research...Mark

I'll give the dealer credit for not pressuring me and also making a ride possible, Mark Conrad at Tracy Motorsports, now I wish I had paid a little more attention but really wasn't ready to make a decision. I think I will give them a call to thank them and get an idea how wide of a trailer I'll need to haul one up to the mountains.

You guys up in Minnesota must be loving this weather huh? Good to see the posts of the Honda going in the snow as we get quite a bit (not this year) up in the Sierra's but I'm not up enough to justify a snow machine but this Honda would open up some more fun outings without being single purpose...Mark
