I have been looking on here for quite awhile trying to get some ideas for a nice overhead sound system, and there's not a lot of talk about it, I want to put a four speaker system, with two in front and two in back with an amp, I also want to do front and back dome lights, CD player with Bluetooth, 12v outlet to charge phones and such, is any one else doing or planing a more extreme type system like this ideas on it would be great

Been thinking the same thing myself. Have thought about those sound tubes you make out of PVC pipe making any length any diameter that you need and a good waterproof housing for your stereo. Seems simple to make and pretty economical to.

I was thinking about making a headliner that bolted to the roll bars out of wood, and making it like 3 inch deep boxed so my speakers would mount flush and it would hide my wiring then having the front and back boxes rhino lined to seal it up, the boxes would pretty much fill the spaces in between the roll bars on top, but I still haven't got my pioneer yet so i don't know without having it if it is posible

Thanks for all the links and ideas tritonman posted a link about a ranger that's more what I'm going for, I had a tractor one in my rhino exactly like the first link and they position the head unit to flat it's hard to see the screen without setting way up in the seat and they are just pretty plain and basic, and expensive, I am going to figure out how to post pics on here and draw out my idea so I can get some feed back on it

I'd suggest a MDF sheet to rip your speaker box parts out of. In my opinion, its acoustics are superior and I think you'll see better longevity as it won't want to warp as bad as the 2x4 will. A 1" thickness would be excellent for this application. Rhino lining will be a nice touch. I like that.

How heavy is the mdf? Because it will take two pieces for each box on top and bottom I just don't want to be to top heavy and affect my ride but I was concerned about warping, I was thinking about putting runners through it cross ways to help with that, hopefully the hardtop roof will help keep the moisture to a minimum, and carefully washing of course, I've been waiting three months for this pioneer and it should be in at the end of the month so I've been buying supplies and stuff so I can go right to work on it when it's in thanks for your input

I looked it up quick. A 12"x12" 3/4" thick piece of MDF is 3lbs. That should be an easy unit of measurement to apply to your total project. I used to build speaker enclosures as a side job. If you have weight concerns, 3/4 would be a better choice. Before you screw everything together, put down a layer of wood glue or caulking. Helps insure air tightness. Use more caulk around any wiring in and out of the box, and if your speakers come with gasket material, lay that down before installing them, or again a little caulk.

If your thinking of maybe cramming a 12" sub above each seating position. I can get you the port specs for you speakers of choice. :)

I just got my red 700 2p yesterday, and I'm going to install the following:

Kicker PXiBT50.2 amplified controller
" KMT60 tower system
" HIDEAWAY sub enclosure
Auxiliary battery constant 12v

The machine rocks, and the sound system should also!
