Test drove the polaris 400 and 570 today, ranger
The 570 has the engine moved back and was faster and less cab noise vs the 400 but the 400 was a nice machine with less exhaust noise. While the 400 has a bit higher cab noise, interstingly, the tailpipe noise was distinctly less. The 570 has a bass like, throaty soundthat was no doubt louder but for those who care, a silencer would help.
I did like both bikes but one thing the dealer said that alarmed me as a person sensitive to noise given intended use as a hunting vehicle who will also use it for sunset cruises with the family, is the recommendation that low range be the primary gear tp protect the belt and transmission. This makes more engine noise tho not sure how necessary it is.
