At SEMA this year Superwinch launched a new app called Roam. It allows you to control your winch from your smartphone. The phone connects to the machine using secure WiFi network built into the winch itself, which means that you can operate the winch remotely even without cell service.

Roam lets you winch in and out, view amps, temperature, line speed and run time.

Now that has a great "cool factor" to it, but my hands are very seldom clean enough that I want to grime up my smartphone when winching in the mud, snow, or god knows what.

I'll stick with the XT series from warn.

And here I am wondering if I will ever even use the hand-held remote!

I wish my freaking winch would GET HERE.
I will stand on a soap box and preach the good that comes from a wireless remote! I work alone harvesting my wood and use my ATV to drag logs to a decent place to work on them. Running up a ravine to run the winch and then back down every time it would get hung up.... No way! If I need to fix a fence, I can stand by the post I am going to nail to, and take up just the right amount of slack. If I am using the winch with the ATV anchored with a chain to a tree as a safety line, I can hold the strap right where I want it and take up the slack. Corded remotes are alright, until you are more than 15 ft from the machine, or in the mud or literal crap.

I refuse to ever go back! :D

Looks super useful if you are working alone. I bet there are some creative things you could do with this app for fun too. Is it pricey? Seems like it should be cheap since it is just an app.
expensive as the winch you have to buy for the app to work. Oh sure you could download it for cheap likely, but good luck getting it to work LOL

I hear you Moose on the wireless front, this seems more of a "we can do it" scenario than a "what is practical" scenario....

Yea I guess that is a good point, no other winches have a wireless hookup so you will have to buy this company's winch with it. I do think that this is not the most practical thing, but more of a "look at this cool thing that my winch can do" thing.

Is anyone considering buying this for their Pioneer?
