Watch your CV boots!

I tore a front inner boot this past week, and stopped by the dealer for a replacement today. Great news, they are unavailable as individuals for some reason, and an inner/outer pair costs $74..

I told them to forget that, I'll find another replacement. The whole CV shaft only costs $209 from Honda, I'm not pyaing 74 for a boot!

Wow! That is a big price difference
Thanks springer, I ordered one of those.
I like All balls products. It'll be the wheel bearings that go in my pioneer whenever they go.
the OEM boots may cost a little more but fit is 10x better then all the aftermarket ones i have tried over the last8-10 years(moose ,and ones from ebay etc , etc ) and the rubber is too stiff and will slide off if any grease is under the boot where the clamp is ........but good luck with them

trick to that rich is boiling the rubber makes it easier to move around till it cools.
The all balls boots are the closest ones I have found to stock on the wheelers. I'm not liking these new plastic boots on the Pioneer. Instead of flexing and possibly just a hole they are getting ripped off the CV joint and mangled. I haven't had to replace too many of them yet though so maybe they will work out better than I'm thinking.

the 2014 foreman 500 uses the same plactic style boot .....sspeckerwood tore one with less the 20 miles on his 2014
ouch.

time to get some protectors for the boots maybe?
@binfordw how did you end up tearing the boot in the first place? I'm just wondering if this is a common thing that happens or if you were doing something more uncommon with your Pioneer.
duct tape them lol
duct tape them lol
don't laugh, a friend of mine did just that until the replacement came in. He filled the old boot with grease then wrapped it with duck tape. what a hoot, it worked!:D
oh i wasn't laughing had friend get drunk one night out riding a Suzuki 500 and his rear oil seal began leaking badly and he ran out of oil. we rode for 4 more hours and loaded up the Suzuki with beer in the oil. i don't know why he did it but somehow it made it all the way back to the truck. the next day we pulled the drain he had about half a quart of oil rest was beer

It was tore traversing some pretty bad, very muddy terrain. Dead limb was what ripped it I believe.
The "All Balls" replacement boot came a couple days ago, and I installed it last night.

Went pretty smoothly, nice boot for $12. Alot better than paying the dealer $74.
