I recently had a warn 4500 winch installed at a local truck accessory shop that I frequent often. The tech called and said pioneer wont start. It will turn over but wont fire. They have checked all the fuses and wires but no luck. I told them they should hear the fuel pump run when key was turned on but they said they heard nothing. Any suggestions would help!

The main / fuel pump relay is right up behind the fuse box. I don't know where they ran stuff or tapped for power. Or if they hooked the battery up backwards, crossed a wire. Then just called up when it didn't start.....

Does it have gas in it?

Wish I could help more.

I'm not saying they hooked the battery up backwards. I was just trying to say, "it's a hard diagnostic" to figure something out third hand when neither of us know what exactly happened before the" it wouldn't start " phone call. They could of done anything. I hope to heck they would not be hooking up batteries backwards...

I would hope they didn't as well....but I have had some duh huh moments before. I will more than likely have them take it to the local honda dealer to diagnose the problem. They have already stated that they will pay if was their mistake. Thanks for your suggestions/comments.

Good to hear they are stepping up to the plate and making their mistake right.

And welcome to the forum, sorry it couldn't be under better circumstances.

There is no seat safety switch. There are 2 wires that join into one at the positive side of the battery if one of them broke loose might cause what your seeing. If they are both hooked up you should go to the dealer and charge them if there is a bill. Sure sounds like they fried something.

Have they tried unhooking the winch to see what it does? I can't think of anything besides maybe pulling a wire/terminal out of a connector just enough to not make contact when hooking up the keyed power trigger wire. Not knowing where they tapped in for that makes it hard to guess though.

Ok. They cut into a wire to grab power for switch and instead of t'ing into it they cut and only connected one of the original wires back. Honda charged 82 bucks and i passed that onto the guys installing my winch. They offered also to pay for fuel too. Finally got it back....a little frustrated but people make mistakes. Thanks for all your guys help and suggestions.

All things considered. That was one of the best outcomes for a cause. Glad it was a simple fix, now go enjoy
