Hello!

My Pioneer 1000-5 Deluxe will be delivered on Wednesday, and I am looking for the smartest way to transport it. We have a teardrop trailer that we currently pull with our Subaru, but it is time to get a truck so we can do them both. Looking for some feedback and options:

1. Will it fit in the back of a 6' bed with the tailgate down and tailgate savers?
a. If so, what truck do you recommend? Budget is around $15-$20k.
2. Would it be better to get a rack for on top of the bed?
3. Sell the teardrop, pull the SxS with a trailer and get a rooftop tent/sleep in the bed of the truck?

Need help and options!

Thanks!

No No Yes!

That's a big NO to 1 and 2, unless you buy a big pickup with an 8' bed and even then 2 wheels will be on the tailgate--not good!
And its a yes to #3 with one modification (been doing it for years and will be doing it with my new 1000-5, all over Baja Sur this winter. I have a sturdy old trailer with a 9'bed (I extended it from 8', hauling my Rhino everywhere. The modification is: set up a tent in the trailer at your campsite, put up your tent, put your inflated queen size air mattress inside the tent and sleep like a king! If its an old trailer, all good- nobody will want to steal it, but put a new 3500 lb. axle under it so it won't break down on you in the boonies.
